Therum is a planet claimed by the Systems Alliance. It's a rich industrial planet with plenty of heavy metals. This has led to a huge manufacturing boost for Earth and other Human planets. Fossils found on the planet's surface indicated that humans were not the first species to settle of Therum. Many of the ruins show that the planet was inhabited by the Protheans over 50,000 years ago.
Finding Liara T'Soni

While looking for Saren, Commander Shepard will be informed that his accomplice; Matriarch Benezia has a daughter on Therum. When you arrive on the planet, Shepard will find that the Geth are also looking for Liara T'Soni. After fighting you way through hoards of Geth, Shepard will come to the Prothean dig site where Liara can be found. Despite the Geth already invading the dig site, Liara has managed to stay safe by accidentally trapping herself within a force-field barrier.
Liara is freed from the barrier after Shepard blasts his way under the force using a mining laser. As they head towards the exit they are stopped by a group of Geth soldiers and a Krogan Battlemaster. The fight takes place as the mine begins to collapse. After killing all the Geth and the Battlemaster, Sherpard will lead his team out of the mine just seconds before it crumbles. The mission was a success and Liara is safely aboard the Normandy.
