Tali'Zorah nar Rayya (known as Tali) is Quarian Machinist and a squad mate of Commander Shepard aboard the SSV Normandy. She can be found upon your first visit to the Citadel. While on her pilgrimage she came across a patrol of Geth and managed to disable one and remove it's memory core. This led to evidence that Saren was behind the attack on Eden Prime, but it proved to be a dangerous move by Tali because she became targeted by Saren's men.

She managed to escape to the Citadel and asked Fist for an audience with the Shadow Broker so she could exchange the evidence for protection. However, she was unaware that Fist had betrayed the Shadow Broker and was now working for Saren. Fist led her to a trap where Saren's assassins were waiting. Luckily, Commander Shapard was able to track down Fist, find the location of the ambush and save Tali from the assassins. Tali thanked Shepard for saving her life by agreeing to give evidence against Saren in front of the Citadel Council.

After Saren is removed of his Spectre status, Tali agrees to assist Commander Shepard aboard the Normandy in his mission to hunt down Saren.

Background

Tali is from the Quarian race, who are responsible for creating the Geth. Her race underestimated how far the Geth had developed and they soon began to think for themselves. The Quarians realised how big of a mistake they had made and attempted to shut them all down. However, the Geth became aware of this and rebelled. Eventually a war broke out and the Quarians that managed to survive were force from their home world. The Citadel Council gave them no aid or sympathy and they were removed from the Citadel Embassy and cut from all ties with the Council as punishment for bringing a new threat to the Galaxy. Their entire race now live among the Migrant Fleet which consists of over 50,000 Starships as they no longer have a planet of their own.

Tali left the Migrant Fleet to begin her pilgrimage, which is what all young Quarians must do as a right of passage. They must leave the Migrant Fleet and travel the Galaxy in search of information or resources that will benefit the rest of the fleet. Tali's father is the highest authority to the Quarian race so everyone is expecting big success from her pilgrimage. There's an uncharted assignment in the game called UNC: Geth Incursions. After completing the assignment you'll find a data cache that has details of the Geth's early life. Tali will say it's the perfect gift for her pilgrimage as it might help the Quarians understand where they went wrong.
