SSV Normandy

The SSV Normandy is a stealth system starship used by the Systems Alliance. It's the first ship of it's kind. Many people believed stealth in space was impossible due to the heat generated from starships, the heat would make them visible on any nearby scanners. However, the Normandy has the ability to store it's heat for around 2 or 3 hours to go undetected when close to hostile planets.
The Normandy was developed by both Humans and Turians. It was considered the first major breakthrough between the two species after the First Contact War. It was first Captained by David Anderson but it was handed over to Commander Shepard when he was promoted to Spectre and given the task of bringing down Saren.
The name of the ship comes from the Battle of Normandy in 1944 which was a major turning point in World War 2.
