[edit] Background

Morinth was born sometime in the 1700's and was one of Samara's three daughters. At the age of 40, Morinth, along with her sisters, were found to be Ardat-Yakshi. She was offered the choice to live out her life in seclusion, where she would lead a comfortable lifestyle, or execution. Unlike her sisters, Morinth had become addicted to the melding process and choose to run. This prompted Samara to give up all of her possessions and become an Asari Justicar and hunt her daughter down.

For the next 400 years, Morinth traveled across Asari space, with Samara chasing her at every opportunity as she had become even more addicted to the melding process. On one occasion, Morinth had visited a planet and deceived a village into believing that she was a god. The villagers began to worship Morinth, and brought her young Asari as sacrifices. Upon Samara's arrival to the planet, Morinth order the villagers to attack her in waves, buying her time to escape. By the time Samara had dealt with the attackers, Morinth had already fled, leaving behind only the youngest of children.

Eventually Morinth left Asari space, and traveled to Illium, with Samara in pursuit. Upon arriving, Morinth persuaded the Eclipse Mercenaries to smuggle her off-world on the ship AML Demeter. Morinth then arrived on Omega, believing that she had evaded Samara and had been reprieved. During her time on Omega, Morinth had began to form a relationship with a young artist and sculptor, Nef. Morinth was attracted to art, and so found Nef to be irresistible. She then seduced and murder Nef. However, Samara had found her location with the help of Shepard.

Samara and Shepard came to Omega and began searching for Morinth. Aria T'Loak tells Shepard about a local girl's murder at the hands of an Asari. Their investigation lead them to Nef's apartment, where her mother allowed the two to search through Nef's belongings. They found that Morinth had been seducing Nef and began to formulate a plan to finally stop her. Shepard would be used as bait to draw Morinth out of hiding and pretend be seduced by her. The two would then go back to Morinth's apartment, where Samara would follow and kill Morinth.

Shepard went to the Afterlife Club's VIP section, which is where Morinth would usually find her victims. Shepard's actions caught her attention and excited her. The two went to Morinth's table, where they began to talk. She eventually invited Shepard back to her apartment. When they arrived, Morinth tried to seduce Shepard, only for Samara to enter the room, causing a confrontation between the two. As the two battled, Morinth asked Shepard to kill Samara, claiming that she was just as powerful as her mother and would serve Shepard in his mission.

Shepard is given the choice of killing Morinth or Samara. Killing Samara is considered a Renegade outcome, but is also a Paragon action if the dialogue options are chosen when speaking with Morinth. In the event that Samara is killed, Morinth will take her place on Shepard's team. As the two share a strong family resemblance, no one realizes that Samara has been replaced. Only Kelly notices the change in behavior, claiming that her impersonation of her mother isn't perfect.

[edit] Relationship

Morinth expresses a desire to mate with Shepard when brought aboard the Normandy. She claims that Shepard is unlike anyone she has met before and is too strong willed to die during the melding process. She claims that if they both survive the mission, they should celebrate by doing so. After the completion of they mission, and if the two survive, Shepard can choose to mate with Morinth as promised. However, Morinth's claims are proved to be a lie, as Shepard dies painfully during the melding process, leading a "Critical Mission Failure" game over message to appear.

  • She was known at one point as "Mirala", being called so by her sisters, so it is likely this is her original name.
